Volleyball
Boys and girls are learning to play together.
At a very early age, children in rural Kenya are already limited by strict gender roles. Boys and girls have few opportunities to socialize and take part in the same activities.
By creating co-ed athletic programs, we can start breaking down barriers and enable boys and girls see each other as friends and equals. As they mature, these early experiences will help them to question the gender inequality and discrimination that prevents many Kenyans—especially women—from living full, productive lives.
The co-ed volleyball program gives boys and girls the opportunity to become friends and team-mates, and shows them that children of either gender can demonstrate skill, intelligence, courage, and determination when given the chance.
A monthly micro-donation of just $5 can help us show boys and girls that they can play together, learn together, and lead together. Please donate now!
