These past few months I have spent a lot of time at Camp Ohana Village in Kenya. Do I get tired? Physically, definitely a big yes. However, when I view things beyond the physical aspect, I no longer see how tiring the experience is. Looking at things from the point of view on how it builds up my total being, how I am able to make things better for other people, I will never get tired of doing what I am doing.
Hear this out. I believe that whatever space I occupy on this planet is merely a rented one. My tenure will definitely end one day. Why not make the most of my time on earth and bring substance to the lives of the people around me. Am I doing them a favor? Oh yes! However, little did they know that they are doing me an even greater favor by allowing me to help them. They are helping me build my character, appreciate my being and add value to my existence here on this planet. As a result, this gives me a purpose. Without them, I am just an ordinary guy living a dream merely for himself.
Why am I sharing this? I want more people to experience this gift. The gift of waking up each day and looking forward to making a difference in other people’s lives. My Camp Ohana experience has made me a better and more effective coach and speaker. I do not simply talk, practice what I preach. Camp Ohana did not make me simply a coach, a speaker, and a leader. It has made me an “example for mankind.”
