CHANGES FOR BETTER LIVES

I was looking over a bunch of photos over the weekend and reminiscing at Camp Ohana Foundation over the past 10 years.  I cannot help but walk down memory lane. With your help and support, I can say we have achieved a lot.

One of the first accomplishments when we began 10 years ago was bringing fresh clean drinking water to both Camp Ohana Campus and Camp Ohana Village.  We are very pleased to date that children and families at Camp Ohana Village and Camp Ohana Campus benefit from clean and potable water. 

In addition to clean water, we launched an initiative to provide self sufficiency in terms of food production.  Thanks to the Camp Ohana Agricultural program, the children are learning sustainable and responsible small scale farming techniques.  Our signature Camp Ohana Environment protection program promotes the preservation of Kenya’s natural resources and forests through our 2018 flagship program – Sponsor a Tree program.  

Our advocacy for children and youth is never ending.  Our desire to empower the youth to be future leaders is the driving force that compelled us to create the Camp Ohana Literacy program.  Education is something that everyone deserves and we cannot deprive the children to that.  One of the biggest legacies we can leave behind is the construction of the first children’s library in Kenya.  To date, it has become a hub of several resources and programs all benefiting underprivileged children. 

These are some of the accomplishments we have had at Camp Ohana Foundation over the years. None of these would be possible without your support.  We continue to raise funds to support all our initiatives both at Camp Ohana village and Camp Ohana Campus. This 2019, our banner program is the Camp Ohana Service and Safari program.  It is a 10-day Kenyan safari tour where you can get to meet the children at Camp Ohana Village, engage in service projects with the children and experience the African wildlife up close and personal.  

We invite you to join us on the adventure.  Proceeds from this program fund Camp Ohana Foundation’s existing programs.

The Adventure Opens

In our blog last month, we gave you a hint on something big that is coming from Camp Ohana.  The cat is finally out of the bag and the adventure has started.

The first group of our Safari Adventurers left last March 2019.  We are still awaiting updates on how was their safari adventure experience but allow me to share with you their excitement the day they left for the Safari Adventure.

Something new, Something Exciting – A New Adventure

Ten (10) is the magic number for us this year.  Apart from celebrating our ten years of changing lives, we cooked up something new and exciting for everyone.  

We have shared with you different stories about our experience in Kenya.  The service that we do and how beautiful the country is. Our experience there is indeed life changing, not only for the people there, but also for us.

It is high time that we not only share with you stories, but the experience as well.  We have launched — “Camp Ohana Service and Safari Adventure — An Adventure with a Purpose.”

The program offers a rare and unique 10 day opportunity to be a part of a safari adventure and also gives a chance for participants to interact with the children at Camp Ohana Village.
